A desert war hero - Omar Mukhtar
Last week I got a chance to watch: Lion of the Desert. I would say it's simply, an amazing movie.
It's amazing because, given the time period of 1979, this movie excels in all categories of movie making. You can't stop liking this movie a lot for -The details, elegant acting, well planned story line, intelligent direction, thorough research, flowing screen play, good camear work, timely background score, effective lighting & intelligent editing and for lot more reasons.
The above snap is the original photo of Omar Mukhtar, in shackles outside Italian courthouse in 1931. He was shackled from his waist to wrists as Italian army feared that he might just escape, he was aged 73. The Libyan hero was treated like a prize catch by the Italians as he resisted them for almost 20 years by guerrilla warfare.
In short, this is inspired by Libya & Italian battle days & a propaganda movie intended to showcase a Muslim “martyr” hanged by Italian fascism.I'm sure your heart moves for this Libyan war-hero once the movie gets over !
All I can say is that it's a must watch & now it's one of my favorite movies of all time. A simple search on google gives your more info on this visual delight of yester years. When you get a chance to watch this one, never miss it !This movie symbolizes heroism , revenge , history, vanity, and a lot more.It has a great cast , Anthony (Omar Mukhtar) at his best and reed proving that he can make a great bad guy.The story is just wonderfully rich with a lot of events , it's a true story about an Arabic Muslim hero who fought against the Italian's occupation of Libya with a great bravery and intelligence.the production is amazing , it's a really big budget movie that had all the authenticity of that period. And last but not least the director Mr. Akkad who did an mazing job on this movie.via | imdb
