naukri.com in Gtalk

Here’s some great news for savvy internet users who spend more time on the social web ;-)

Here's a tool that enables all Gtalk users to search for jobs on naukri.com by simply chatting with our bot. All you need to do is add “jobs@chat.naukri.com” to your friends’ list and you are ready to go. If you are a Gtalk user - you can search and find jobs and if you are registered with naukri.com , you can also apply to the jobs that you like - using this medium.

Though the prime intent behind this tool was simplifying the online job-search experience for jobseekers, as a by-product - if your organization has blocked www.naukri.com - don’t fret cause this would help you search for jobs despite that ;-) Moreover, if your boss is in your cubicle, he/she would not even come to know that you are searching for jobs on naukri.com !

Power transfer over the air !

Photo coutesy - jjjohn

I don't know why ? Whenever I hear about transmitting anything over the air technology, this always use to tickle my brain. How about transferring power over the air ? Though, Media is already in the air in the form of bluetooth and wifi or via something else, nobody has ventured into transferring electricity without wires. Now ever innovative Sony has bent the jinx.

Sony has invented the TV which has absolutely no cables connected to it. No video cable. No audio cable. And no power cable. How's this wicked sorcery possible?
Sony Transfers 60 Watts of electrical power over a distance of 50cm. yes ! i am sure this is the revolutionary invention next to Edison's marvel electric bulb !

Thanks to Sony's new Wireless Power Transfer technology, which can send 60 watts over the air.Sony's Wireless Power Transfer can push 60 watts of electrical energy over almost 20 inches (50 centimeters).

That's a pretty decent distance, especially when they say that it can be extended using passive extender units. In fact, they have already achieved 31 inches in other tests.Sony says that this system offers 80% efficiency, which may get reduced to about a minimum of 60% if there is a misalignment in the frequencies, which needs to be corrected.

My new Nokia-n79 phone

I was using HTC windows phone. I'm sure it's difficult to use key press phones after using touch phones. This time I wanted to try Android HTC Phone. But I don't see many apps built on Android v/s windows. So thought of mass favorite symbian den.

Felt like going for simple, slim, usable and yet an elegant candy car: the beast within beauty is out there: Nokia N79. So I'm with it now.

W are the Nokia N79’s key features?

Well, it’s got a 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, 2.4-inch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, GPS, and accelerometer. But it holds much, much more under the hood, and so, I guess it would be better to elaborate, bullet-point style:
  • Quadband GSM/Dualband UMTS
  • FM radio with RDS and FM transmitter
  • Touch-sensitive Naviwheel
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Supports up to 8GB microSD cards (4GB microSD card included in the box)
  • Xpress-on color covers with support for automatic changing of theme
  • Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth with A2DP
  • Stereo speakers
  • Built-in accelerometer with auto-screen rotation
  • 1200 mAh battery

Funda behind Google

Google means inquisitive for many. Specially the spidering & crawling caliber of google search crawler Googlebot. Conventional seo people still believes that Google search & indexes pages on the basis of meta tags inserted on the header part of HTML. People from new school of seo thought have a point to make: 'page content plays a vital role in google searching, rather than meta tags.

But in plain words, google says:
you submit your site with some description & wait till we add your content to our mammoth indexing process. In few days google search to find your site on top our search results. You may also add comments or keywords that describe the content of your page. These are used only for our information and do not affect how your page is indexed or used by Google.
I see a rare level playground in search engine optimization battle; perse 'google v/s seo tweaking people'. To avoid rigging of meta tags & deliberate search tweaking capabilities of outside players, oflate google've made innumerable variations to their search crawler engine script.

I found this interesting read on 10 things you should know before submitting site to google. Though it's a generic information it's useful for novice seo operations.
  1. If you have a splash page on your website, make sure you have a text link that allows you to pass it.
  2. Make sure you have no broken links.
  3. Check the TITLE tags.
  4. Check the META tags.
  5. Check your ALT tags.
  6. Check your frames.
  7. Do you have dynamically generated pages?
  8. Update your content regularly.
  9. The robots.txt
  10. To cache or not to cache?
