Spark in Platinum Metallic

4 reasons forced me to go for compact car this time:
  1. Bangalore traffic is hectic & I needed something easily maneuverable
  2. It'll be mostly a lone driving to gym & office inside the city. And to my sister's short commuting.
  3. Color, contrast, curves, vital statistics matters a way bit more for me personally ! ;)
Though style & design doesn't matter on performance, I needed fresh & elegant
    looking machine to drive.
  4. Being a professional designer & having penchant for designs; lest friends shouldn't gaze at me with strange & odd look if I go for a boxy car- in the name of service network & resale value ;)
So I bought a new Chevrolet Spark car on September first week. It's a Platinum Metallic colored - top end model. I didn't opt for Alloy wheels & Anti Braking System (ABS) which comes as premium model fitments.

It's small, compact, elegant & cute car - I was looking for Bangalore city driving. It's a reincarnation version of Matiz by General Motors in India under
Chevrolet brand.

In spite of less sparks on the road & labeled as pricey small car in the segment- I opted for GM's small car & feeling proud with the choice of Spark LT. I was in need of fresh & cute design car than existing oldies on the road. Though it's few thousands more 'All
Gas filled shocks & tubeless tyres' are worth paying for that extra bit.

To add to all this I got it installed Boston 6" 9" rear speakers & JBL 4" 6" front speakers with Blaupunkt Head Unit- I say, these are ultra companions to beat lethargic Bangalore traffic !

Give it to the first Sardar beggar...

Well, somebody, my friend, told me the following incident which I wish to share with you. It has had a deep impact on my thinking.

In the diwali vacation, Jayant and his couple of friends had gone to Delhi. They rented a taxi for local sight-seeing. The driver was an old Sardar, and boys being boys, Jayant and his pals began cracking Sardarji jokes, just to insinuate the old man.

But to their surprise, the fellow remained unperturbed.

At the end of the sight-seeing, they paid up the hire-charges. The Sardar returned the change. Moreover, he gave each one of them one rupee extra and said, (in Hindi, of course),''son, since morning you have been telling Sardarji jokes. I listened to them all and let me tell you, some of them were in a very bad taste. Still, I don't mind because I know that you are young blood and are yet to see the world. But I have just one request. Here I am giving you one rupee each. Give it to the first Sardar beggar that you come across in this city."

Jayant continued," That one rupee coin is still with me. I couldn't find a single Sardar begging on the streets of Delhi."

Friends, we all love sardar jokes. But the fact of matter is that Sikhs are one of the most prosperous and diversified communities in the world. The secret behind their universal success, according to me, is their willingness to do any job with utmost dedication. A Sardar will drive a truck or set up a roadside garage or a dhaba, but he will never beg on the streets.

Phishing, Security attack & Firefox

Here are some examples of URLs that eBay controls as a result of owning "ebay.com":

eBay Inc. does not control any of the following as a result of owning "ebay.com". If you find yourself at a similar URL, it is probably a scam (phishing) site set up by someone who wants to steal your eBay account, money, or auction goods.

All it needs is a little Spark !

"The zippy power delivery, the smooth gearshifts, the spot-on gear ratios and the narrow dimensions of the car means that it makes short work of your daily commute in thick traffic. So is it a good tool for city driving? You bet, and that's not all. The Spark surprised me with something else too."

"There are not many small cars sold in India that you feel confident in while doing over 160 kph. Here I was pushing a
Chevy Spark
wearing a gorgeous shade of red on the highway, and for a car that has a similar footprint as the tinny Maruti Suzuki Estilo, was remarkably composed. Never once did it feel out of depth and it remained planted as if this is something absolutely naturally expected from a car like it. Not just that. Even at 160 kph, the engine doesn't seem stressed too much and has more juice to offer."

Web Versioning

Sofar buzz was about web 2.0. Lucky that I am part of netizen gallery witnessing changes & web evolution taking place right in front of my eyes. When I embarked web work with basics of internet & intranet based design guidelines way back in '99, least I knew that unlike design softwares web will be versioned & renamed in the coming times, though change is the only constant word in world wide web. But reality bug bit the web over the recent past. In the name of merging desktops to net & user contributed content aggregation, it's altogether a different ball game bisecting net into versions !

web 1.0 was like a came & gone kid. Nobody knows when it arrived & left. What made big news was web 2.0. Technologies & techniques re-aligned to talk in terms of web 2.0. Platforms, architectures, compliance standards were refined & redefined.

Oops ! people on the other side of the table who just plays with statistics & numbers got a good weapon to talk about for hours. 'Dude do you know web 2.o, Have you worked on web 2.o tech, how's delicious, is tagging is real taxonomy ?' Not surprising though, with pure techfobia chat-masters offline is buzzing like never before ;)

As I said, change is the only happening phenomenon on web. Now the fad is about web 3.0 :) Yeah, seriously !

  • The world of Web 3.0 is the world of semantics, where every piece of information has a standard meaning that can be understood not just by people but by programs designed to do mundane tasks for us.
